Tribal Court

To the Winnebago Community,
In response to the ongoing public health emergency and extended Tribal shutdown, the Winnebago Tribal Court and all hearings scheduled from March 30, 2020 to April 10, 2020 are cancelled. New hearing dates will be rescheduled as the current public health emergency changes. Initial appearances will continue to be held as required by law every Monday and Thursday. Such hearings will be done by videoconference or teleconference to the greatest extent possible. As emergency situations arise during this time, the Court will address each situation accordingly.
The Tribal Court offices will continue to be closed to the general public but is operating with very limited availability. You may call the Tribal Court office with any general questions and/or to leave a message for the staff between the hours of 8am & 4:30pm. All Child Support payments will continue to be processed as normal. If you need to submit documentation to the Court, please mail to P.O. Box 626, Winnebago, Nebraska.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. For submission of any non-emergency filings via email, they will be considered filed as of the date of the email. As a reminder, the Tribal Court office is still operating but with limited availability. For any general questions, please contact the office at 402-878-2570 between the hours of 8am to 4:30pm.

 

In 1986, the Winnebago Tribe reestablished jurisdiction in the area of its legal system. The Tribal court exists to resolve civil conflicts and to enforce the criminal law in a just and equitable manner. The Tribal Court holds general jurisdiction for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
